We all have an object with a story, something we hold dear to our hearts – it is this realisation that drives Kolmio to create significant jewellery pieces, that are worthy of the narrative our customers wish to attach to it. Nothing makes us happier than to create jewellery pieces with meaning, for lasting memories.
Our brand name, Kolmio (Finnish for triangle), is a daily reminder of the triangular relationship that originates between the designer, the customer and the product during the creative process. At Kolmio the customer is an integral part of the creative process – as it should be.
We use your initial thoughts and ideas to create a detailed sketch, once you are happy with the proposed design we source the stones and materials to manufacture your masterpiece.
It gives us great joy to see the creative process come full circle, with a happy client and a polished product.
After graduating from the University of Stellenbosch with a BA Visual Arts Degree in Creative Jewellery Design and Metal Techniques (2014), Tracey van Heerden moved back to her hometown, Heidelberg (GP).
Heidelberg is a small victorian town about 50km south-east of Johannesburg (often referred to as the The City of Gold). She spent the next 2 years working as a goldsmith-in-training at a local jewellery studio, Moonraker Design.
At Moonraker, Tracey had the opportunity to hone the skills she accumulated during her studies and fine-tune her eye for detail in a fast-paced environment.
Towards the end of 2016 it was time for a new challenge! Tracey packed her bags and followed her heart to Secunda (Mpumalanga), where she founded her own jewellery studio, Kolmio.
